President – Vincent Borello, vincent@bgcm.org
With over 34 years of Boys & Girls Clubs experience, Vinny Borello truly understands the heart of the movement. Joining the East Utica Boys Club at the age of 6, he was named Boy of the Year in
1972 where his prize was a job at the club. His summers were spent at the Utica
Boys Club Camp in the Adirondack Mountains where became an expert at resident
camping.
At 17 Vinny became the youngest unit director in Boys
Club history, overseeing the East Utica Boys Club. He was fortunate to be
mentored by the legendary Kief Malara, Mike “Caggie” Alesandro, and Tony
“Pitts” Pazzola.
After graduating with a degree in Recreation Management, and
numerous BGCA management certifications Vinny became the interim Executive
Directors at the Hudson Boys Club in Massachusetts.
Vinny went on to Springfield
Boys Club where he managed the programs and Summer Resident Camp. In 1990 Vinny
accepted the Executive Directors position in Oyster Bay Long Island. In May of
1998 Vinny accepted a position with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater
Washington DC as area Director. He was promoted in 2005 to the Regional Vice
President position overseeing 9 Clubs in Northern Virginia . During his tenure
with BGCGW he built a gymnasium/bingo hall, outdoor pavilions, state-of-the-art
computer labs, and a 3 gym 52,000sq.ft. facility in Manassas Virginia.
Vinny became the President/CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs
of Greater Memphis in 2008. He resides in the Greater Memphis area with his wife and
2 children.
Vice President of Finance/Administration – Larry Pennington, larryp@bgcm.org
Larry Pennington joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Greater Memphis in April 2010.
Larry has been active in the Memphis area business and
non-profit community for 30 plus years including 15 years at a large East
Memphis church.
His extensive accounting and administrative background and
experience assure our stakeholders that the financial and administrative affairs
of BGCM will be in good order.
Larry is proud to be part of such an excellent organization
that is having such a positive impact on the youth of Greater Memphis and is
looking forward to the opportunities ahead to reach more kids more often in
more clubs.
Being a native “Okie” Larry is first and foremost a Sooner,
but is also a Memphis State University Tiger. He and his wife Sharon, have three children and three
grandchildren and they are proud of all, just ask him.
Vice President of Resource Development and Marketing - Megan Klein, megan@bgcm.org
Megan Klein comes from a rich background in public relations and broadcast journalism with a Journalism Degree from the University of Missouri. Megan has always had a heart for youth and non-profit work. In college she organized and executed a mentoring program for young girls. In her previous role at archer malmo she conducted PR for the Arthritis Foundation, Beale Street Caravan and Caritas Village.
Her specialty is creating and executing strategic marketing plans that span additional, social and guerrilla marketing. She is thrilled to be part of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis and looking forward to strengthening partnerships between the organization and Memphis' leaders.
In her spare time she can be found enjoying great food and fun downtown!
Vice President of Operations – Charles Griffin, charlesg@bgcm.org
Charles Griffin is originally from Detroit, Michigan. He graduated
from Cass Technical High School in 1991 and LeMoyne-Owen College in
1997. He majored in English, minored in history, and has a secondary
Education Certification. He started working with the Boys & Girls
Club of Greater Memphis while in college. He began as part-time staff in
1996 at the Goodwill branch. In November 1997, he became Program
Director at the Southside branch until November 2000 when he was promoted to
the Club Director of the Downtown Porter
Branch.
His achievements include two-time staff member of the year. He
is a certified Boys & Girls Club Professional, Academy graduate of
Boys & Girls Club of America, and an Inaugural Strom Thurmond
Leadership Institute participant at Clemson University. Charles is
married and a proud father of two beautiful daughters
Vice President of Planned Giving - Alexandra Turner, alext@bgcm.org
Alex Turner grew up in Memphis. Following graduation from Hutchison School, she went on to attended Texas Christian University (TCU) and the University of Missouri, Columbia. After securing a BA in History and a MBA, Alex moved to St. Louis where she worked in marketing for the Gillette Corporation while also co-hosting a talk radio show.
By 2001, Alex returned home to join the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau as the Director of PR and Media Relations. It was through that hands-on work local hospitality and government organizations, she started a small marketing company called Lux Media Source. Eventually she joined with the national PR firm, Crosby-Volmer, which is based out of DC with roots in Memphis where she focused on the Hampton/Hilton Corporate account as well as several government agencies and organizations in the Memphis area.
It was at a Steak & Burger dinner that she was first exposed to what the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis actually does and was inspired to get further involved. In September 2010, Alex joined the team to start the first the Planned Giving division and further local outreach. Alex has two canine “children”, Milo and May that are the center of her universe. When she's not working she spends a great deal of time with her sister and best girl friends discovering the meaning of life!
Director of Special Events - Pryor Lot, pryor@bgcm.org
Pryor Lott is a new member to the BGCM team. She grew up in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, Greenwood, MS. She graduated from Mississippi State University in 2008 with a BA in Marketing & a minor in Apparel, Textiles, & Merchandising.
She spent many summers in many different cities serving as a fashion intern for Jane Magazine in New York City, an event design intern at Stephen Duvall Catering & Event Design in Charleston, SC, and a clothing sales representative in Dallas for the brand Karlie.
Pryor's passion for events began in college. In 2008, she served as the Sales & Event Coordinator at a local event and destination management company, Destination King. For the past two years, Pryor worked at The Memphis Charitable Foundation, a local non-profit that is known in Memphis for for the charitable events; The Jingle Bell Ball, The Blues Ball, The Blues Ball Spring Auction, The Policeman's Ball, among others. When she is not planning grand events, Pryor is dining with her friends around town, volunteering with The Junior League of Memphis, or attending concerts at Minglewood Hall.
Director of Programs and Grants - Tandra Cunningham, tandra@bgcm.org
Tandra
Cunningham is a native Memphian. She is a graduate of Ridgeway High School and
received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of
Memphis. She began her career with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis in
2001 as Program Director at the John Dustin Buckman Club where she excelled in
the areas of programming and management.
After
working for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis, she relocated to
Atlanta, Georgia.
During her stay in Atlanta, Tandra pursued a degree in
Fashion Design and Marketing at American Intercontinental University and worked
as an Association Manager for the Novare Group where she gained the knowledge
and skills necessary to conduct the daily operations of multi-million dollar
condominium developments with mixed use retail space and led a board of
directors.
In 2008, Tandra returned to Memphis and the Boys & Girls
Club. Since her return she has served in several capacities including
Lifeline Mentor Coordinator, Education Director, and Interim Club Director at
the John Dustin Buckman Club. She is currently the Director of Programs and
Grants for the organization. Tandra is also one of the first
recipients of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis “First Chance”
scholarship and is working to receive a Masters degree in Management and Public
Administration at the University of Phoenix.
Accounting Assistant/Payroll/Accounts Payable – Tiffany Mallory
Tiffany Mallory is a born and raised Memphian. She graduated from White Station High in 2002 and is now getting her BS at University of Memphis. She has been with the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement since October 2007, and is looking forward to many more years with the organization.
Administrative/Human Resources Assistant – Jessica Miller
Jessica Miller has been with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis for over 31 years. An expert in all things Boys & Girls Clubs related, Miss Jess keeps our office and events running smoothly with her cheerful can-do attitude.
Camp Director - David Keigan
Born and raised in Braintree, MA. Spent summers in Maine on Sebago Lake where learned to swim, fish, canoe and exploring the woods. Attended Catawba College in Salisbury, NC where he majored in Physical Education & Health and pitched for the baseball team. He also has an AA in Recreational Leadership and did graduate work at Lang Beach State, CA.
He moved to Southern California where he started working for the Boys & Girls Club as Shop Director and worked his way up to Program Director. He became Camp Director of Pathfinder Ranch for the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Springs 1983. As Camp Director he increased the operating budget from $250,000 to over $1,000,000 and developed an Advancement Program that inspired campers to come back year after year. He spent several years as a successful real estate agent in Southern California before jumping back into the organized camping field with Georgia Council of Campfire USA.
David joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis in February 2009 to Direct Camp Phoenix. David Looks forward to providing the children of Memphis a safe, challenging, educational and rewarding summer camp experience.
