Vinson Smith, Club Director - vsmith@bgcm.org
Vinson Smith is a native of Tennessee. He graudated from Tenessee Technological University in 1974. He served in the U.S. Naval Forces for many years earning the ranks of Rear Admiral. He retired from active duty miltary service December 1, 2005.
Admiral Smith's awards include Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with a gold star, Bronze star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, navy Commendation Medal, The Republic of Argentina, Distinguished Service Navy Cross and numerous service ribbons. In 2009, he was presented by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation the President's Bronze Volunteer Service Award.
Admiral Smith and his wife, Sandy, currently resides in Olive Branch, MS. Heis hobbies include golding and gardening.
Steven Davis, Program Director - sdavis@bgcm.org
Steven was born on January 18, 1985, in Independence, Mississippi. He is the youngest of two siblings, an older sister and brother. As a child, he learned that hard work is the root to being successful in life. He saw this by watching his father work hard on the farm and at a printing factory to support his family. He also found enjoyment working hard on the farm as well as keeping up good grades in school. Then, his hard work began to transfer over to sports (football, basketball, track, etc). He graduated from Independence High School in 2003. He received a football scholarship at Delta State University in Cleveland, MS for a running back position. Here, he was a 4 yr. letter and was part of two championships - Gulf South Conference 2007 and Regional Championship 2006. In addition, DSU football team had set the best record for wins in history over the 5 years while Steven played. Steven graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education in December of 2007. Currently, Steve is the Program Director at the Hickory Hill branch.
