Meet Our Youth of the Year Club Representatives

Roderick Futch – Buckman Unit
A seven year member of the John Dustin Buckman Boys & Girls Club, Roderick is a senior at Douglass High School. On top of maintaining a 3.83 grade point average, Roderick also devotes his time to the Douglass High School Band, Optional Program, Sons of Douglass, and is a Pianist. Roderick tentatively plans to attend Jackson State University where he will pursue a career in nursing.

William Rutherford – Downtown Porter Unit
A sophomore at Booker T. Washington High School, William is the youngest male of six siblings. William attends the Temple Deliverance Church of God in Christ with his family. William enjoys spending his free time at the Downtown Porter Branch of the Boys & Girls Club, where his infectious smile and fun-loving nature brightens everyone’s day.

Khadija Mason – Sycamore View Unit
A senior at the Memphis Business Academy High School, Khadija is a member of the Robotics Team, Poetry Team, and the Future Business Leaders of America. Also, since 2009, Khadija has participated in the Keystone Club, Smart Moves, Skill Tech, and Power Hour.

LaCretia Jackson – Bernal E. Smith Unit:
A senior at Kirby High School with a 3.6 grade point average, LaCretia was a recipient of the 2011 Memphis Beat the Odds Award. Furthermore, LaCretia has been an active member of the Bernal E. Smith Branch of the Boys & Girls Club for 6 years. In this time, she has been involved in Torch Club and Keystone Club. Upon graduation, LaCretia plans to attend Tennessee.

Shannon Wright – Samelson Unit
A senior at Kingsbury High School and Memphis native, Shannon aspires to attend Washington University in St. Louis where she will study to become a veterinarian. Some of Shannon’s achievements include speaking in front of the Black Caucus, placing 2nd runner up in the state for 2011 youth of the year, being a guest on the Fox 13 television station for “Good Morning Memphis”, and reciting her speech in front of more than 700 people at the United Way Luncheon. Shannon is a leader and active member of the Ira Samelson Jr. Branch of the Boys & Girls Club.

Anterrial Harris – Goodwill Unit
Born September 6, 1995, Anterrial is a junior at Overton High School. She participates in Jazz, the Concert and Marching Band, Key Club, French Club, Science Engineering Communications Mathematics and Enrichment Club. In addition to all of these activities, Anterrial still manages to find time to dedicate to the Goodwill Branch of the Boys & Girls Club, where she is an active participant and member.
