Gift planning is an art that combines financial planning, estate planning and tax planning techniques to enable friends to make gifts of surprising significance, often with dramatic tax and financial rewards.
Planning How to Give
Join our many friends who have helped through planned giving. By tailoring the form of your gift to fit your personal situation, you can gain maximum tax rewards, maintain financial security and make a truly meaningful contribution.
You may wish to consider:
- Bequest
– You designate BGCM as the beneficiary of your asset by will, trust, or other
instrument.
- Charitable
Gift Annuity – You transfer your cash or appreciated property to BGCM in
exchange for our promise to pay you a fixed income (with rates based on your
age) for the rest of your life with a charitable tax deduction.
- Charitable
Remainder Trust (CRT) – You transfer your cash or appreciated property to fund
a charitable trust. The trust sells your
property tax –free and provides you with income for life or a term of years
while avoiding capital gains tax.
- Charitable
Lead Trust (CLT) – You transfer your cash or property to fund a lead trust that
makes a gift to BGCM for a number of years.
You receive a charitable deduction for the gift. Your heir receives the remainder at
substantial tax savings.
- Life
Insurance – You designate BGCM as the owner and beneficiary of your life
insurance policy. You make a gift to
BGCM each year for the amount of each year’s insurance premium while also
receiving a charitable tax deduction each year.
- IRA
Beneficiary – You designate BGCM as the primary beneficiary of your IRA while
maintaining lifetime control and use of the IRA and receiving an income for
your lifetime.
