President & Chief Executive Officer – Metise Moore Sr.

Metise Moore Sr. is a Denver, CO native who relocated to the Memphis Metro area in 2020. He has had a diverse and accomplished life, both in his career and in his commitment to community service. Metise’s career spans various industries, and he has been recognized for his leadership and exceptional achievements.

He began his journey as a JUCO basketball player at Foothills College in Los Altos Hills, CA, where he was among the top JUCO players in the nation. He later transitioned to play Division 1 basketball at the University of Akron in Ohio. Off the court, Metise has been happily married to his wife, Tina Moore, for 26 years, and they are proud parents of two wonderful adult children, Metise Jr. and Madison, aged 27 and 25, respectively.

Metise’s commitment to sports extends beyond his playing days. He has dedicated 24 years to coaching high school and AAU basketball, imparting essential life lessons, the value of hard work, teamwork, goal-setting, resilience, and embracing challenges to young athletes.

Apart from his passion for sports, Metise is an excellent cook, an avid fisherman, and loves to explore new places through travel.

In his professional career, Metise is a highly accomplished executive-level sales professional. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership in driving the achievement of key organizational sales goals and objectives. His expertise includes assembling and developing high-performing sales teams, implementing strategies to maximize business opportunities, and building strong, long-term relationships with strategic partners, including C-suite decision-makers.

In his most recent role as the Chief Commercial Officer at BlueConduit, Metise played a crucial role in providing executive leadership for all commercial efforts in the US market. BlueConduit is known for its groundbreaking work in addressing water quality infrastructure gaps and challenges, notably for its role in solving the Flint water tragedy in 2018.

Before his role at BlueConduit, Metise served as the U.S. Head of Smart Infrastructure Sales at Siemens Digital Grid, where he was responsible for launching and managing three Siemens Digital Grid SaaS solutions in the US markets.

Metise also has a strong commitment to non-profit leadership and advocacy for at-risk youth. He founded the Denver Hooperz Youth Organization (DHYO) in 1998, which later merged with Chauncey Billups Elite Basketball Academy (CBEBA) in 2013. Through these organizations and the medium of sports, Metise and his team provided invaluable support to disadvantaged youth in the community, achieving a remarkable 100% graduation rate while Denver Public Schools recorded a 66.1% graduation rate.

Metise Moore Sr. is a dedicated community leader and has received numerous awards both for his professional achievements and his community efforts. Notably, he was honored as the 2015 Denver Urban Magazine Honoree of the Year for “African American Making a Difference.” His career and community service reflect his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of young people and within the communities he serves.

Gwendolyn Woods was born and raised in Memphis, Tn . She graduated from Central High School and later received a track scholarship to University of Memphis where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. Gwendolyn also attended University of Phoenix and earned a Master’s of Business Administration and Certificate of Human Resource Management.

Growing up in the inner city of Memphis and raised by a single mom after her father passed away from leukemia when she was just four years old, Gwendolyn has faced many challenges. However, the foundation from her mother and a particular mentorship from a middle school track coach significantly impacted her life as a child and pushed her to achieve greater goals for herself.

Head of Resource Mobilization and Marketing – James Moore

James Moore serves as Vice President for the Juice Plus+ Technical Training Center of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis.  James had a successful track record as the CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Hatchie River Region in Covington, Tennessee. James was nationally recognized for implementing education, self-sufficiency, workforce development, and financial literacy programs for at-risk youth. He was recognized by the Memphis Business Journal “Top 40 Under 40” in 1999. He is a graduate of LeMoyne-Owen College and a member of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Cordova.  In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, and spending time with family.  He is married and has two daughters.

VP of Workforce & Career Development – Paula Guyton

Paula Guyton is a native of Memphis, TN.  She attended Lemoyne-Owen College. Paula is an outgoing, dedicated, hardworking young lady who loves working with youth of all ages. She has been a staff member of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis since 2001. Paula has worked at four units, all in which she has been promoted.

Director of Resource Mobilization – LaGina Mitchell-Scott

Meet LaGina Mitchell-Scott, a dedicated professional with over two decades of experience in education and real estate in Tennessee. LaGina’s rich background includes roles as a science teacher, Professional School Counselor, Positive Behavior Counselor, Dean of Culture, and Administrator within the education sector. She also brings extensive expertise in real estate, holding prestigious designations like ABR, GRI, C2EX, AHWD, MRP, CRS, and SRS, while actively participating in industry organizations such as the Memphis Area Association of Real Estate (MAAR), NAREB, CCIM, and Women’s Council of Realtors.

Originally from East Chicago, Indiana, LaGina was raised in Memphis and pursued higher education at Spelman College in Atlanta, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry from LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis. She continued her academic journey by attaining a Master of Science in School Counseling and Curriculum Education, along with certifications in Christian Counseling and Education Administration for the state of Tennessee. LaGina is currently advancing her studies with a focus on Counseling (LPC) and a Doctorate of Behavioral Health (DBH).

Beyond her professional endeavors, LaGina is deeply committed to community advocacy. She is the founder of Beautiful Nonetheless, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by Vitiligo through counseling, education, tutoring, and mentoring. LaGina actively collaborates with organizations like Stand for Children, Momentum Memphis, Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope (MICAH), and other nonprofits focused on uplifting children, youth, and women.

As an engaged member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., LaGina serves on the Executive Board as Correspondent Secretary and volunteers her time to bring empowering programs like the Brotherhood: Boys to Men and Girls On The Run-Heart and Sole to South Memphis.

Outside of her professional and philanthropic pursuits, LaGina enjoys participating in charity runs such as St. Jude, Alzheimer’s, and Sickle Cell Runs. She finds joy in music, sports, dancing, exercise, travel, and spending cherished moments with her family.

Database Manager & Administrative Assistant – Melodie Moore

Melodie is a native Memphian. She attended high school at Gateway Christian School, where she graduated as the female student of the year. She went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from the University of Memphis, where she was a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization, Golden Key International Honour Society, Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society, and was a recipient of the Presser Foundation Award and the UofM Young Alumni Legacy Award. While at UofM, she was also the head girl counselor for the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music’s Memphis Music Camp for multiple consecutive years. She was selected as one of Memphis Woman Magazine’s “Outstanding Young Women of Memphis” in 2008 in recognition of her volunteering and outreach efforts throughout the region. She is extremely grateful to be a part of BGCM, where she is excited to continue playing an active role in providing opportunities and growth for the city’s youth.

Grants Accountant – Catrina Berryhill

Catrina Berryhill is a native Memphian.  Currently, the Grants Accountant at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis.  She graduated from Central High School and later graduated Magna Cum Laude from Belhaven University Memphis Campus with B.S. Degree in Business Administration, Minor in Accounting. Catrina has extensive knowledge of grants and accounting.  She is family-oriented and is inspired daily by her four sons.  In her free time, Catrina likes to meditate, read, and spend time with family and friends.  Catrina is grateful to be a part of a non-profit organization that thrives on education and youth development.

Lydia started with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis family in May 2019. Lydia was born and raised in Arkansas, to a large family to say the least. She is number 12 of 14 children!

Lydia is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a B.S. Degree in Business Education. Lydia brings a wealth of accounting knowledge and experience with her. She was a staff accountant of Marshall Food Service LLC, which is the Burger King Franchise, and also America Works, which is a welfare to work program through the Department of Human Services.

Sheila Hopson is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan.   She graduated from Union High School and attended Grand Rapids Community College.  Before relocating to Memphis, she worked in the fields of broadcasting and law.  After marrying her husband Jimmie, who is a native Memphian and relocating to Memphis she worked in the medical field for thirteen years. Sheila has been with the BGCM since 2011, and is proud to a part of such a great organization.  Sheila and her husband are the proud parents of a son and daughter.

Director of Grants & Outcome Measurement – Sam Brackens

Sam Brackens was born and raised in Memphis, TN. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School and later attended the University of Memphis (go tigers!) and studied psychology and Spanish. He came on to the team here at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis as our first Data Coordinator intern, aligning with his passion for data and outcome measurements. He has recently been promoted to his current role, Director of Grants & Outcome Measurement.

In his spare time, Sam enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his dog, Almond Joy. He loves a good road trip with his close friends to explore the sights of Arkansas and Tennessee.

Sam is excited to start his career at the reputable organization of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis. He has a deep passion for educating the public and integrating impactful data into his work, and he finds fundraising for BGCM a great way to put that into action. He is inspired daily by both the BGCM staff’s work and what our Club members accomplish!

Director of Special Events & Community Outreach – Robert Williams II

Robert Williams II moved to Memphis in 2020 after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City with a BA in Theatre History & Performance Texts. After working for Off-Broadway and regional theatre companies in new work development and marketing, Robert joins the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis Resource Development Team to assist in their fundraising efforts.

Robert is a published writer and a proud alum of the TedxBroadway Young Professionals Program. They enjoy shooting film photography and collecting vinyl records in their free time.
